When purchasing or exchanging for HTR osmium, storage in the Osmium World Council`s high-security warehouse is mandatory, as the goods are stored in collective custody. Crystalline osmium can also be stored in this warehouse. The storage costs amount to 1 percent per year of the stored quantity up to a value of 100,000 euros and 0.55 % above this amount. The goods are secured and insured in the warehouse. On receipt for exchange, the goods are checked again in the laboratory of the Osmium Institutes and then certified and exchanged. Crystalline osmium removed from the warehouse can be stored again at any time after removal. This does not apply to HTR osmium due to the complex inspections required for storage.
